RuralTech Services RuralTech Services provides technology transfer solutions to government, NGOs, small businesses, individuals, co-operatives, funding agencies and CSR groups, and other players engaged in rural development activities in agriculture and allied industries, housing, water, environment, healthcare, energy, rural industries, and ICT. http://www.grameenbharat.in/ Thu, 08 Jul 2010 17:39:38 +0000 Joomla! 1.5 - Open Source Content Management en-gb RuralTech Services http://www.grameenbharat.in/ruraltech-services.html http://www.grameenbharat.in/ruraltech-services.html More than 72% of India's population lives in the rural areas and over 77% of the population earns less than Rs. 20 per day. Most of this population survives on agriculture and allied industries and have deplorable working conditions and scanty livelihood options. Several social scientists and government officials are working on rural development, and have been able to make improvements in the fields of education, healthcare, gender and caste equality. However, there still remains a significant lack of employment opportunities for rural people as compared to cities, which is a direct impact of lack of modern appropriate technologies being used in the rural areas.

People in the rural areas, in many cases, are still using obsolete technologies due to the following reasons:

1. Research carried out in various research institutions and on the field does not reach the masses at large. Most of the research ends with completion of a pilot project at a test site.

2. The local conditions (social, cultural, political, economical, educational, and technological) of a region play an important role in selection of a technology alternative for an area; ignorance of which has led to failure of various development projects.

3. Technology transfer is incomplete without formation of sustainable enterprises that are capable of successfully selling a technology or its products.

We, at  RuralTech Services, solve the problem of technology transfer to rural areas by providing an end-to-end consulting based solution for the players (government, NGOs, small businesses, individuals, co-operatives, funding agencies and CSR groups) engaged in rural development activities in agriculture and allied industries, housing, water, environment, healthcare, energy, rural industries, and ICT. With a strong background in technology and business consulting, we bridge the gap between research, manufacturing and marketing of rural technologies and their products.

Our approach:

  • To understand social, cultural, economic, educational, political & technological conditions of an area
  • To identify a suitable technology alternative based on technology selection criteria
  • Conduct appropriate pre-implementation market studies
  • Transfer the technology with the help of external consultants, if required
  • To ensure complete setting-up of an enterprise for long-term sustainability of the project
